Gua Sha - Does it work?

Did you know that I now offer Gua Sha as an add on or as a stand alone treatment?

Gua Sha is one of the many modalities I offer. Gua Sha is a non-invasive treatment consisting of a scraping technique that increases microcirculation, drains lymph and breaks up fascia (connective tissue). This scraping action can help drain your lymph system, improve immune system health, reduce fine lines and wrinkles, relieve inflammation, increase collagen production, improve melasma and assist in sinus drainage. Here is an excerpt from a Research Study: "Gua Sha increases microcirculation local to a treated area, and that increase in circulation may play a role in local and distal decrease in myalgia... There is an unidentified pain-relieving biomechanism associated with Gua Sha".

Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese treatment that uses meridians of the body or chakras to aid in natural healing. This ancient Eastern treatment dates back to the 1700s and is used to benefit both the internal and external body. It has been used to treat such conditions as arthritis, cancer, IBS, TMJ, MS, ME, Lyme disease, myofascial pain syndrome and much more. This non-invasive treatment increases microcirculation local to a treated area. Not only does it increase circulation which has been shown to ease inflammation and pain in a different areas of the body but it may also help release tension from your jaw/neck/head creating pain due to headaches or neck pain.
