Learning Reiki FAQs
How do I Learn Reiki? Anyone can learn to practice Reiki No special skills, prior experience, or educational degrees are needed. Reiki is not “taught”, but rather is transferred to the student during a Reiki class. Through a series of initiations administered by a Reiki master, the flow of Reiki energy within the student is enhanced, which allows the student to then facilitate the flow of Reiki energy to others.
Who can Learn Reiki? Reiki is a simple technique to learn and is not dependent on one having any prior experience with healing, meditation, or any other kind of training. It has been successfully learned by over one million people from all walks of life, both young and old. The reason it is so easy to learn that it is not taught in the usual way something is taught. The ability to do Reiki is simply transferred from the teacher to the student through a process called an attunement that takes place during a Reiki class. As soon as one receives an attunement, they have the ability to do Reiki and after that whenever one places their hands on themselves or on another person with the intention of doing Reiki, the healing energy will automatically begin to flow.

What are all the different Levels of Reiki? There are three levels of Reiki training and while certain components of each level are standardized, each Reiki master will teach them a little differently. Each level is centered around an “Attunement”. This is a ceremony of empowerment, education, and practice. Each Attunement will increase a person’s light by 100x, thus increasing their ability to hold this light. An Attunement is what makes Reiki unique from other forms of Healing Touch and Energywork. This ceremony, called Reiju (pronounced ‘Ray-joo’) in Japanese, is performed by the Reiki master during each level to open and expand the main energy channels of the student's body, allowing the universal energy, also known as Qi/Chi/Ki, to flow more freely and deeply through them. It tends to clear blockages in the body and can lead to significant energy changes within the individual. Many will undergo an intense period of self-growth following their attunements. You can think of the attunement process like a transfer of energy: The Reiki Master is passing energy off to the student, who will then possess it for life. Level I is a practitioner's initiation into Reiki and focuses on opening the energy channels on a physical level, allowing the practitioner to connect to the Universal Life Force Energy, which flows from the cosmos into the crown. We will emphasize self-Reiki as the goal of the Level 1 designation, encouraging students to focus on practicing Reiki on themselves, thereby working through their own obstacles. Level II gives students the skills to practice Reiki on others and open energy channels more deeply. Students also receive 3 of their symbols during this level. There are 5 symbols in Reiki and each one corresponds to a specific energy (power, harmony, distance, mastery, and completion). Students are expected to use these symbols to bring the Universal Life Force Energy of Reiki into their everyday lives in more practical ways. The symbols can also enable the student to send Reiki over long distances or send healing energy wherever it may be needed in the world. Level II focuses upon opening the heart chakra, the midpoint between the physical and spiritual chakras. Students have their eyes closed for this attunement so they can look within and feel the process' effect on the heart. Level III During this level students are ‘attuned’ to the Master level, which is an immensely powerful and beautiful attunement. This again, raises the student’s energy vibration to an even higher level and enhances the Reiki skills previously taught. Students are taught the Master symbols, which can then be used in the attunement process of others, if the student decides they would like to teach. Meditation, as a practice, is positively taught at this level, along with further energy exercises. This level is very much about deepening the understanding of the Reiki energy, being more consciously mindful, developing intuition further and consciously working with intention.
What are the benefits of taking all Three Levels of Reiki? Each level teaches many different things and so taking each level the student will learn everything necessary to become an effective and lovely energy healer.
What will I notice after taking a class and receiving an attunement? Some students may experience effects similar to an entire body detox. The primary focus of Energywork, aside from pain relief and relaxation, is to align the energy centers in your body, called chakras. If our body is out of balance or alignment, then certain illnesses and dis-eases may occur. Once the body is back in alignment it takes some time for our system to adjust to the changes. Some people (a small select few) may experience, difficulty sleeping, tiredness, weakness, nausea, stomachache, and/or an increased body temperature. However, the benefits far outweigh these possible unpleasant occurrences. If the student does experience any of these, they should subside within a day or two (and at most - a week). If any concerns arise please call us and a medical professional. And always drink plenty of water to rid the body of toxins. We also recommend that students not schedule anything the following day after learning and being Attuned to each Reiki Level.
What do you wear to a Reiki class? Wear comfortable clothing made of natural fibers (cotton, wool, silk, etc.) Do not wear nylon stockings or any other restrictive type of garments. Don't forget to eat breakfast.

How do I prepare for a Reiki Attunement? The Attunement ceremonies can be quite emotional, exciting, draining, invigorating, challenging...there are a lot of feelings that accompany spiritual healing and growth. Prepare for this day as you would prepare for a big test. Get plenty of sleep. Eat a healthy breakfast. Meditate before you come. Try to take the day one moment at a time and just enjoy the process!
